Operation De-clutter

In spite of heavy rain, 30 volunteers of all ages took part in a Big Tidy Up in June 2008 to clear the litter blighting the banks of River Misbourne in Chalfont St Peter, Buckinghamshire.

Members of the Chalfont St Peter Environment Group, supported by a local youth club and school, the Girl Guides and the Village Older Person Action Group, joined forces to clear over 60 bags of rubbish. Items collected included bottles and cans which were taken to be recycled, as well as pieces of wood, concrete and a fridge.

The event – also known as ‘Operation Declutter’ has helped to improve the flow of water along the River Misbourne, as well as providing a cleaner environment for the neighbouring Community Centre and local residents to enjoy.
