Tidy Up of the River Ouse - in Canoes!

Environmentally-friendly students from York St John University took part in a Big Tidy Up in October 2008, which saw them trawling the River Ouse both on foot and by Canadian canoe!

The event was a great success and over 16 bags of rubbish were collected from the 8km stretch of river, covering Clifton Bridge through to the University boat house.

The teams cleared some rather interesting items, namely a supermarket trolley, a dinghy, a rusty bike, two mopeds and a safe!
