Join the Country’s First Ever Green Picnic!
Keep Britain Tidy is hosting the first ever Green Picnic Day later this month – and we want you to be part of it!
A green picnic is the perfect way for you to have some fun outdoors now the weather is getting warmer. It’s also a great opportunity to encourage your family to enjoy healthy, locally sourced, sustainable food now and in the future.
The Big Tidy Up, in association with National Family Week, wants families right across the country to get involved from Bank Holiday Monday, 31st May, throughout June.
For your green picnic, you will need to think about sourcing food and drinks locally, making sure waste and packaging is recycled where possible, and making sure you get to and from the picnic sustainably and avoid travelling by car.
After you’ve had your green picnic, we want you to hold a Big Tidy Up event to make sure that the area is left clean and tidy.
Rebecca Joinson, spokesperson for Keep Britain Tidy said: “A green picnic is a great way to get all your friends and family together for some real quality time, while joining together with others across the country to encourage a greener and more sustainable future for everyone to enjoy.
“By having a Big Tidy Up after your picnic event, you’ll also be showing your loved ones and the wider community that you care for and respect your local environment.”
So why not get your family together for some sandwiches and cakes and organise your very own green picnic on or around 31st May?
Click here to register to take part in the country’s first ever sustainable picnic. Remember to select ‘Green Picnic’ in the Group Type dropdown box when you are completing the registration form. If your event is set to take place between 24th May and 13th June, National Family Week will also send you free picnic goodies to get you started.
