News - Blades Players Tidy Up!
Sheffield United players are giving up the football and getting their hands mucky to help take part in the Big Tidy Up campaign.
Several stars including Richard Cresswell, Stephen Quinn, Nick Montgomery and Andy Taylor joined Blades legend Tony Currie to don the green tabards and rubber gloves to get ready to rid the streets of litter around Bramall Lane.
Sheffield United have been working in partnership with Sheffield City Council’s street force team and Keep Britain Tidy to help raise awareness of the campaign and reduce litter left around the ground after home games.
Sheffield is planning to join in the with the rest of the country on St George’s Day in and around the stadium on April 23rd from 3pm until 5pm. The Blades hope hundreds of supporters, local residents and staff will follow the players’ lead and join together to spruce up the streets.
All volunteers are rewarded for their efforts with a match ticket to see the Blades at the end of the season.
Blades ambassador and club legend Tony Currie said: "We are pleased to give our support to this campaign and help raise awareness of the litter pick day. Hopefully everyone around Sheffield will do their bit to keep the streets clean."
All necessary equipment will be provided by the council and volunteers are rewarded for their efforts with a match ticket to see the Blades.
