Skelton Grange Environment Centre Gets Cleaned Up

Volunteers and staff from the Skelton Grange Environment Centre in Leeds gave the Centre’s surrounding roads a much-needed makeover during their Big Tidy Up in September 2008.

A total of 15 bags of rubbish were cleared during the event – significantly improving the area surrounding the Centre and helping to ensure that it remains safe, tidy and attractive for visiting children and adults. A variety of items were found dumped, including nappies, shoes and hard hats, as well as numerous cans and bottles which were taken for recycling.

Volunteer Ralph Walker said: “I was amazed at how quickly we collected loads of rubbish – the team worked really well together! I don’t think anyone else would have cleaned up the roadside if we hadn’t had the event, and it’s already made a real difference to how it looks.”
