TransPennine Big Tidy Up
A group of green-minded volunteers successfully cleared 31 bags of rubbish during their Big Tidy Up on the TransPennine Trail between Skelton Grange Environment Centre and Thwaite Mills Watermill Museum in December 2008.
The trail, alongside the Aire and Calder Navigation between Leeds and Goole in Yorkshire, is very popular with cyclists, walkers and anglers, however the area is often spoilt by fly tipping or careless littering.
The event was designed to be as eco-friendly as possible and so all of the rubbish collected was shuttled to a skip using a bicycle trailer.
